Delaware’s first brewery to host festival celebrating the slight but mighty First State, featuring the release of 302 Lager, a brand-new Delaware-centric beer.

 

MILTON, DEL. (FEB. 14, 2023) – An homage to Delaware’s 302 area code, Dogfish Head will host the Official 302 Day, in collaboration with 302 Horseshoe Crab, at its Milton Tasting Room & Kitchen on Saturday, March 4, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. A celebration of all-things Delaware, this free-admission event will feature local libations and eats, live music, lawn games, a Delaware Spirit Costume Contest, a raffle to benefit Friends of Delaware State Parks, and the release of a brand-new Delaware-centric beer, 302 Lager.

This is the brewery’s second year collaborating with 302 Horseshoe Crab to host the Official 302 Day. The 2022 event took home Southern Delaware Tourism’s “Best Event” Award.

“Keith and Karlin from 302 Horseshoe Crab have been integral in the collaborative beer process, with Dogfish Head Brewing Manager, Bryan Selders and I, from the label design to the recipe, and that’s a really cool new component to the event this year,” said Dogfish Head Founder & Brewer, Sam Calagione. “The can features both of our well-known logos loud and proud, and I know this is going to be a really sought-after limited-edition can release.”

302 Lager Release

Ideated in collaboration with 302 Horseshoe Crab, Dogfish Head will release 302 Lager just ahead of 302 Day, on Thursday, March 2. Brewed from thoughtfully sourced 2-row barley malt, heirloom variety corn and Sauvignon blanc grape must, the aromas are bright and inviting, with notes of honeysuckle, sweet grits, grapefruit and passionfruit. Crisp and tasty, this American Lager pairs perfectly with food, friends and fun!

The release of 302 Lager will be accompanied by a special chat at the R&D Bar inside Dogfish Head’s Milton Brewery. From 5:30-6:30 p.m.,folks are invited to join Sam, Bryan, and Owners of 302 Horseshoe Crab, Keith Mosher and Karlin Maull, for a first-sip opportunity and to talk all-things 302. Guests can reserve their spot here.

302 Lager will be available on draft, for on-site consumption, at Dogfish Head’s Milton Tasting Room & Kitchen and at Dogfish Head Brewings & Eats in Rehoboth. It will also be available in 4pk/16oz cans to-go, at the Milton Tasting Room & Kitchen and Off-Centered EmPOURium in Rehoboth. Priced at $15 per 4pk.
