Shore Craft Beer Challenges

Shore Craft Beer Challenges

Win prizes for being a Shore Craft Beer supporter.

No matter where you are on the shore, you’re only minutes away from world class local craft beer. We offer a fabulous selection of breweries, bars and restaurants where you can enjoy a local craft beer. We even suggest bottle shops and liquor stores where you can get Shore craft beer to go.

While you are enjoying our Shore craft beers, we figured you should be rewarded for trying as many as you like in as many different locations as you can.

Use the Shore Craft Beer App available in the Apple Store and Google Play to check-in to one of the featured businesses, name your beer, and take a picture of yourself. Be sure to share your check-in on Facebook or one of the other social media platforms you prefer. When you satisfy the challenge requirements, we will send you prizes. Top winners will be listed on ShoreCraftBeer.com AND on the app.

Chad Steinman

Andrew Krezel (Newark, Del.)

Andrew Krezel (affectionately known as Otter in the automotive world) is a Philadelphia native, currently residing in Newark, DE. When not turning wrenches, or playing his bass guitar, he enjoys seeking out and trying new and exciting brews from local breweries. The OC8 was a great way to experience great local breweries in Maryland and taste a large variety of beers. It was a fun and exciting venture to accomplish with his brother Sean. On to OC17!

Michael Marchessault

Michael Marchessault (Farmingdale, NY)

I live on Long Island about 265 miles from Ocean City. Big props to my wife who also doubles as my very patient designated driver. I like a hot beach and a cold hoppy beer. Ocean City in the summer is great and anywhere warm in the winter especially if they have good beer, favorites being Waikiki Hawaii and Delray Beach Florida, both with lots of good beer. Also like hiking the mountains when the weather is cooler and of course the local beers afterwards. This is a great time to be a beer drinker with so many craft beers to choose from. Thanks for organizing the challenges I really did enjoy it and I look forward to trying to complete more.

Shawn Duke (Chester Springs, Pa.)

I am a beer nerd from the north…not far outside of Philadelphia.  Beer is a passion and a hobby of sorts.  I love seeking out new breweries, trying new beers, and enjoying new friendships that come from today’s amazing beer culture. My brother in-law and I took on the OC8 Challenge during our vacation week of July 16th to the 23rd.  Great times!  We plan to chip away at the OC17 next! Cheers!!!

Sharon Breita (Selbyville, Del.)

Sharon and one of her  best friends, Kristin finished the OC 8 challenge in October 2016. The pair have been friends for a few years. They started by running races together and enjoying craft beer at the after parties. Recently, they decided to complete the challenge instead of running a 5k or 1/2 marathon for beer.

Chad Steinman

Chad Steinman (Reading, PA)

Completed the OC8 Challenge July 2015 and was one of our first two confirmed winners. His favorite of our local beers is the 58ounce Porterhouse from Backshore Brewing because of the smooth smoke flavor that “really kicks you in the mouth.” His favorite memory from completing the OC8 Challenge was being able to find small, new local breweries – many of which he may otherwise never have known about.

Sarah Baker

Sarah Baker (Reading, PA)

Completed the OC8 Challenge July 2015 and the second of our first two winners. She came down to visit OCMD like a normal summer but started the challenge on a rainy day and found it to be a nice change of pace from her normal beach routine. Sarah enjoyed getting to travel a little further out in Maryland and Delaware and her favorite beers were P-Funk from Burley Oak and Beach Juice from 3rd Wave.

Robin Plutschak Van Schaik

Robin Plutschak Van Schaik (Greensboro, MD)

Successfully finished the OC8 Challenge in August 2015 and is the third confirmed winner. Robin loves all of the local breweries so much, she cannot pick just one favorite beer or one favorite memory from visting them during the challenge, but had a great time completing it nonetheless.

Paul Zuk (Towson, MD)

I’m from Towson, but spend most of my summer each year in Ocean City and have since I was a kid. I love how ambitious and active Ocean City is in the craft brew movement. My picture is from Colorado’s first Brewpub, Wynkoop Brewing Company in Denver. Trying different styles of beers and comparing the flavor profiles is a lot of fun and my beer style of choice right now is sours.

Dustin Hontz (Odenton, MD)

I’m from Odenton MD where I spend most of my free time as a Volunteer EMT and drinking any new beer I can get my hands on. The OC8 was a great part of my recent vacation which gave me the opportunity to visit some new restaurants and try some amazing beers.
