Sales of Fearless Hazel to benefit Dogfish Head’s nonprofit partner, OperaDelaware, and the launch of its new original opera inspired by Hazel Ying Lee

REHOBOTH, Del. (Feb. 19, 2025) – In honor of Women’s History Month, Dogfish Head kicks off its 2025 Benevolence Beer series, a collection of beers brewed to benefit different nonprofit partners, with the launch of Fearless Hazel. Brewed in partnership with. OperaDelaware, a nonprofit opera company focused on sharing the joy of opera with the masses, Fearless Hazel (6.5% ABV) is an American Lager infused with smoked star anise and ginger to celebrate the trailblazing legacy of Hazel Ying Lee, the first Chinese-American woman to earn a pilot’s license and fly for the U.S. military. Sales of Fearless Hazel will benefit OperaDelaware and the upcoming debut of its new original opera, Fearless created by Derrick Wang, a bold, pioneering show also inspired by the story of Hazel Ying Lee.

Beer lovers can raise a glass of Fearless Hazel at Dogfish Head’s Rehoboth brewpub, Brewings & Eats, or next door at Dogfish Head’s seafood and cocktail spot, Chesapeake & Maine. For folks hoping to take some home, 4pk/16oz cans of this limited-edition beer will be available for purchase from Dogfish Head’s Rehoboth EmPOURium for $17/4pk. Available only while supplies last.

On March 5, and March 19, 10% of the proceeds from each evening’s sales will be donated to OperaDelaware to further its mission of producing bold, creative performances that
empower artists, enrich the community, entertain audiences, and inspire curiosity.

And for those dining at Brewings & Eats on March 5, OperaDelaware is planning a special, free performance! From 6-8 p.m., guests will be treated to OperaDelaware’s signature Pop- Up Opera—a unique, immersive show during which singers will fill the restaurant with classic arias, making every seat a front-row experience.
