Generally I hate beer puns and “Good things are brewing” is among my least favorite, but there is so much going on I couldn’t resist. In fact, rather than one comprehensive post, I thought a bunch of brief updates would be more appropriate. This will be and has been a busy week in Shore Craft Beer soso stay tuned for more Shore craft beer news and stories. For now, it is important to confirm independently that the beer for #OCtoberfest is fermenting as we speak.
My favorite story goes like this: Brad Crouch, a cellarman at Flying Dog, happened to be in Ocean City for the weekend. He also happened to see on Facebook that a bunch of local brewers were getting together to brew two specialty beers for #OCtoberfest, slated for Saturday, October 24 at Sunset Park. He also, also happened to have a taster case in his trunk, because some people carry business cards, others cary cases of craft beer.
The event was at Assawoman Bay Brewery, near the 45th Street Taphouse in Ocean City. There was plenty of beer to be had, but still a cheer went up when Brad offered to share his beer. It is the kind of unique experience that makes me truly love being around beer people.
It also was cool to hang around with the brewers while they worked. Brewing professionals have that kind of ease, even if they’re not brewers per se. Toby from 3rd Wave and Sam from Assawoman are marketing guys by trade, but they are beer guys by blood and by that token still have plenty to contribute.
We’ll get the photos posted soon and I’ll be following up with
